Waffles Kinkreet

After a slow and agonisingly boring Sunday at work, I take comfort in knowing that I have Mini Caramel Waffles and Tekkonkinkreet on DVD to come home to. I finished reading Black & White a few days ago, thanks to Dock for lending me the books. I have permission to watch the movie now, yes? :D

I picked it up Saturday evening from Forbidden Planet, thanks to Nana who pointed it out to me as I totally overlooked it. I was browsing for the early volumes of Dragon Head in the manga section, but sadly, it wasn’t in stock.

Shortly after, we ventured on to see what movies were showing at the Vue cinema. Nothing new was out, but I was more than happy to watch anything a second time, so suggested we catch Stardust. It’s such a great movie and a rather apt way to end the evening. We both felt all warm and fuzzy inside haha Even on a second watch, that movie is still fantastic.

On a side note, people should not pick up artbooks that are half their body size. Wise words my friends, wise words. Now, on with the show!

Weekend Thrills & Oranges

My recent visit to Cambridge differed this time round as instead of staying round Dock and Selina’s, I spent the trip at Emma and Pud’s house :) I actually got to sleep on a very comfy futon sofa bed.

The highlight of the trip I believe was when Emma and I decided to head out to Tesco’s to buy something for lunch. Our combined bills total was about £140, with only £15 of that being spent on food XD the rest went on games and DVD’s. We’d both picked up a copy of Thrillville, a game that featured work from Dock and Selina. It’s weird, as Emma said, going from buying books/comics created by friends, to now buying games created by friends! Now we wait to see who makes it to the movies first haha

I got myself the Xbox version, as you saw, and Emma picked up the Wii version. We’d spent the entire evening, from about 4:00pm till 11:30pm playing Thrillville non-stop! It’s THAT good. I can see why the Wii version is superior to the Xbox version, as some games, such as mini-golf and the entertainer’s dance game, take full advantage of the Wii-mote. Makes those kind of mini-games really fun to play.

Apart from just great mini-games (such as the wonderful Sparkle Quest 2 and Sparkle Island) the main theme of the game is to build and run theme-parks. You wouldn’t believe how much fun you can have creating crazy roller-coasters.

Run and Hide

Last night after work, I hooked up with Rik, Wing and Marbles to go see a special advance preview of 30 Days of Night. A Free advance preview I might add :D

We really enjoyed it. Well, Rik, Marbles and I seemed to be giddy at the end of the movie, but poor Wing looked traumatised!! I think she enjoyed most of it though just the same.

I’m not going to write a review or anything and I’m not telling people that this is a movie they should go and watch, because I’m the kind of guy who pretty much enjoys a range of movies that others find both good and bad. I just like what I like.

After reading the graphic novel way back when it was first released, I sat there thinking “This would make a great movie”. So of course, I was really looking forward to this since I’d heard it was being made and I was not disappointed. The movie isn’t perfect, it is flawed, there are cheesey lines in it, and so on and so on, but it wasn’t enough to ruin my enjoyment of it.

It’s not your Ann Rice kind of Vampire tale, it’s a massacre! In fact, Wing hit it dead on the head when she kept comparing the Vampires to Zombies. It’s pretty much that. Except these ‘zombies’ have the ability to think, plot and plan.

Oh, it’s quite gory too <3
