Belly of the Beast

I’ve taken up to sitting at my dining table instead of on my sofa in front of the TV. I get so easily distracted these days and I have a bunch of unfinished scripts to work on. Feels like I’ve been saying that for weeks.

Currently I’m distracting myself by posting to this blog :D but I promised myself that once I’m done I’ll get back to work. Also, rather than listen to english music, which I know will distract me as I have a tendency to sit, listen and then ponder the lyrics, I’ve taken to listening to a really jazzy Japanese album (courtesy of Wing). Wish I could tell you what it’s called, but it’s uh.. in Japanese.

I’m starting to think that working on multiple scripts at the same time may have been the reason I can’t find focus. Each story has a different tone and atmosphere to it. Sure, they all have similarities, but ultimately, they all have their own distinct flow and depending on the mood I’m in, I keep bouncing between them all trying to use that ‘mood’ to my advantage. At least, that’s what I thought I was doing. Now I see, I’m just tripping myself up.

So, I’m going back to focussing on just one script at a time and I won’t even think of touching the next unfinished piece until I’ve finished the one I’m working on. Sound advice, yes? … well, easier said than done I’m sure :)

Let’s put it into practice and see.

    I get distracted very easily myself.. i’d say thats why im doing so bad at school, i mean, im not stupid, just unfocused.

    When im studying or something i usually listen to the old stuff, Velvet Underground, Led Zeppelin, The Animals, it all becomes background noise to me and it keeps me in focus somehow :D

    Good luck with the scripts, i’m betting they’ll come out better if you do them individually as you said, keeps your mind on one thing at a time, instead of being all frazzled.

    Yep, tis me, trying to type out a scene. I was playing with my camera and found it had this feature where it can take photos in intervals. So I set it up to take photos every minute and set it aside XD It’s kind of cool. I think I may take more photos this way. Kind of a fly on the wall thing.

    How are you finding the music so far? There are some albums by different artists each with different musical flavours :D
    If you copy and paste the name of the album you were listening to I can romanise it for you XD

    I’m loving the albums so far :D I never knew you were into this kind of music. I’ll have to get you the name later when I get home XD there’s a few that need translating.
