The Flip Side

Christmas and New Year were spent in the company of friends. Both events shared similarities, in that they were both very chilled and relaxed and both offered up a healthy dose of nommy food! The picture on this post was taken by Rik last week when we were walking around Leceister Square in London XD it seemed fitting somehow for this post.

I was about to write about New Years Eve which I spent with Rik and Wing, but uh…

Fehed: I forgot what we did on new years eve XD
Wing: got drunk and played capcom vs snk XD
Fehed: LOL oh yeah

I figured now that it’s 2008, I should maybe post something. I don’t do resolutions, but I do spend a lot of time reflecting on the past and looking to the future. Rather than share my regrets or achievements and get all mushy/emo on everyone, I’m going to share what plans I have for the year ahead, instead.

I normally try to keep things like this under wraps because I don’t like making plans public until they have progressed further or gone into some form of development. Life has a funny way of throwing spanners into the best laid plans. I will go in order of the most solid:

  • By 2009 I hope to release my anthology (titled ‘Talking to Strangers’) containing six short stories I’ve written, illustrated by six different artists residing in the UK. I’ve been putting this together now since August. I will release contributors names later in the year.
  • I’ve renewed contact with some old colleagues who have been involved in indie film projects and was invited to tag along during one of their shoots over the next few months, so I could get to meet more people, study their techniques and get a first hand experience at making a short film. I’ve got plans to work on my own short test piece in the summer to get to grips with things and form a solid working relationship with these guys, before I move on to something bigger.
  • I am also currently in the very very early planning stages of a possible second anthology project. I’m just waiting to see what happens with a few things before I dedicate any serious time to that. Will reveal more in 3 to 4 months.

The thing is about all these projects, is that they require a lot of time and patience. I have to work around other peoples schedules and the more people involved, the more scattered things become. It’ll certainly be an interesting year.

I wish everyone out there a pleasant evening and an eventful 2008. Oh, and on a side note, Good Luck to everyone who’s entered Kodansha this year.
